![]() Search HelpAll Bio-DiTRL database users can search the database for media items to be used in teaching biology. Quick Search (Basic Search)A quick search allows users to search for media items by the title and description associated with those items. A search will use the entered word or words and rank media items that have the most matches in these two fields. Other Search OptionsOptions on the search page allow users to use individual fields to search instead of using the basic search. These options include keywords, title, description, author and abc (Alberta curriculum keywords). Like the basic search, the entered word or words are used to rank media items that have the most matches. MNO SearchAs well as searching the fields of entries, you can search for the MNO (Media Item Number) if you know the MNO for an entry. Viewing Search ResultsUsers receive a list of search results that show a shortened title and description of each media item with a thumbnail preview. The word or words used in the search are highlighted within this preview box. Users can view more details about each item by clicking on the appropriate link. The detail view shows the title, description, authors, and keywords associated with the media item. It also shows the media number(MNO), the date the item was added to the database, the media type, the file type, the file size in megabytes, the status of the item (usually approved), and the thumbnail preview. Users who are logged in as subscribers to Bio-DiTRL will be given the option to add the media item to their own collection for download. Users who are not subscribers are given the opportunity to become subscribers in order to download the media item. |
